Here's a brief description of "Night Whisperers!"
“Night Whisperers!” takes the reader back to the turbulent early 1970s. A time when Americans watched as their country was torn apart by unrest, racial tensions, and a distrust of anyone over the age of thirty. Is this the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, or we will sink into anarchy?
Rick O’Neil thought he left the war behind him. However, since returning from Vietnam, he has been haunted by images of women pleading with Rick to save their children, and voices he calls “Night Whisperers.” With his marriage crumbling and his anger rising, Rick takes to the road in search of answers.
From a commune in Maine to a confrontation with the Klu Klux Klan, Rick battles with his demons and PTSD. In a nation struggling with a failed war, protests, racial tensions and chaos, Rick fights for his sanity and reason for living.
“Night Whisperers!” crackles with tension as Rick, like so many returning veterans finds himself facing indifference, hostility, and hatred as he struggles to adjust to civilian life. In an ungrateful nation unable or, unwilling to help these young men, many veterans turn to drugs and alcohol. Dropping out of mainstream society, challenging society’s established norms, veterans search for answers. Will Rick find his way, his path, his purpose, or will he drown in a sea of drugs and alcohol?
“Night Whisperers!” is the much requested, sequel to “Da Nang Damned!” Peter Alan Turner, himself a Vietnam Combat Veteran writes with an energy and passion of someone who was ‘” Boots on the Ground.” Someone who, like Rick struggled to adjust to civilian life. Although fiction, the author draws from his own experiences, leaving it up to the reader to decide which events are fiction, and which really did happen?
